After a tremendously meaningful victory in Japan last year, Collin Morikawa is looking to become the first repeat winner of the Zozo Championship at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club. The two-time major winner recently wrote, “There are only a few places around the world where you hope to win before the end of your career, and for me, Japan is one of those places.”
Despite the good vibes, Morikawa will need to put up a hell of a fight to go back-to-back, especially with World No. 2 Xander Schauffele making the trip to Japan as well.

Schauffele and Morikawa are two of the top four in the world, and they’ll also be joined by top talents like Hideki Matsuyama, Sahith Theegala, Sungjae Im, Max Homa, Justin Thomas, Min Woo Lee and Si Woo Kim. Homegrown stars like Ryo Ishikawa (who finished T-4 last season) will be back as well, looking to knock off Morikawa.
Morikawa broke a 27-month winless drought last year at this event behind a seven-under 63 on Sunday to win by a comfortable six shots. He even started the day two shots back of 54-hole leader Justin Suh. Eric Cole and Beau Hossler finished tied for second.
This week’s winner will receive a $1.26 million cut of the $7 million purse.
