Titleist 716 AP1 & AP2 Irons
THE new 716 AP1 is the longest, most forgiving Titleist iron ever, designed for golfers seeking maximum distance and maximum forgiveness. A 360-degree Undercut Cavity results in a large, thin, unsupported face area that flexes more at impact for increased ball speed. High Density Tungsten, placed in the long and mid irons, produces a lower centre of gravity (CG) for a higher launch angle. The forgiving High-MOI design – with 50 per cent more tungsten than prior generation 714 – maximises heel and toe stability without increasing AP1’s preferred blade length, while producing higher ball speeds across the face for more consistent distance on off-centre hits. RRP: $165 per club; Graphite: $205 per club.
Meanwhile, the new 716 AP2 is Titleist’s most advanced players’ iron made even better by delivering tour-proven distance with forgiveness and solid forged feel. High Density Tungsten weighting creates a Low CG that is perfectly aligned at impact to increase speed and distance. The forgiving High-MOI design – with 25 per cent more tungsten than prior generation 714 – drives higher ball speeds across the face for more consistent distance on off-centre hits at a tour-preferred blade length. AP2’s innovative construction combines a forged 1025 Carbon steel body with tungsten weighting in the long and mid irons, producing low CG and high MOI with Solid Forged Feel. Titleist 716 AP2 SRP Steel RRP: $225 per club; Graphite: $265 per club.

New Nike Golf Engage Wedges
WITH three sole grinds made from the hands of master craftsman Mike Taylor, the new Nike Golf Engage wedges are the newest solution to help athletes such as Rory McIlroy both score and escape adverse conditions on the course.
The name Engage comes from three important interactions between the golf club and the turf, the clubface and the golf ball and the connection between the athlete and his or her equipment. “To me, they perform really well from the rough around the greens,” McIlroy says. “The ball seems to consistently get up easier and land softer.” McIlroy debuted the wedges at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, putting a Nike Engage 59-degree dual sole wedge into play.
To better engage the club, ball and athlete, Nike engineers followed a similar design that is utilised in the Nike Vapor family of clubs, Modern Muscle. Modern Muscle shifts the centre of gravity to promote stability and consistent turf interaction in even the worst of playing conditions. McIlroy provided valuable feedback to Taylor and the Nike club team during the product development process. The Nike Engage wedges are available in three distinct sole grinds: Dual Sole, Square Sole and Toe Sweep. See nikegolf.com.au for more
