A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau wouldn’t so much as toss each other a passing glance. In fact, the latter’s mere presence would cause the former’s eyes to roll in the back of his head, literally. True story.
Perhaps the whole “saga” was a bit overblown by those of us in the media, but there still appeared to be legitimate beef, particularly from the Koepka side. With everything that’s gone on in golf over the last nine months, though, the Brooks-Bryson feud has become ancient history.
Look no further than Thursday at the LIV Golf Invitational Bangkok, where both Koepka and DeChambeau are in the field for the third-to-last event of the inaugural season of the Saudi-backed series. Once arch enemies, they are now conducting press conference together, which is proof we are living in the twilight zone. The topic, of course, was the OWGR situation, which took multiple strange turns this week:
My goodness, what a time to be alive. Look at these two singing kumbaya and both rowing the same boat into extinction toward a common goal. Who would have ever thought we’d see the day?
In addition to arguing for the same OWGR points cause, they both managed to take a shot at the PGA Tour by claiming Stonehill Golf Club, site of this week’s LIV event, is “one of the best condition-wise” courses they’ve each seen in a “long time,” per Bryson:
For those wondering, Koepka and DeChambeau actually got off to strong starts in Thailand, Koepka shooting a five-under 67 and DeChambeau a three-under 69. They’ll be back at it in the middle of the night on YouTube, we think.
