The turtle-back greens at Pinehurst are wreaking havoc at the US Open as expected. But every once in awhile, those contoured putting surfaces allow for a particularly spectacular shot.
Such was the case for Sahith Theegala on the 15th hole during Friday’s second round at Pinehurst No.2. The PGA Tour winner missed the green long and right and looked like he had little hope of getting up and down for par as he battled the cut line. But instead, he used the slope around a greenside bunker to play the perfect chip.
As incredible as this display of short-game sorcery was, however, the best part was the reaction from NBC’s four-man booth. Dan Hicks, Brandel Chamblee, Brad Faxon and Mike Tirico were all as amazed by the unlikely hole-out as everyone watching at home. Have a look:
Come for the shot, stay for the reaction from the booth! 😂

You love to see it, indeed. There’s an old saying that there’s no cheering from the press box, but in this case, we’ll let that slide.
