WE are, sadly, becoming accustomed to Tiger Woods bogeying his opening few holes these days.
But this time, the 14-times Major champion bounced back with six birdies to card a 3-under par 68 at the Quicken Loans National at the Robert Trent Jones GC in Virginia.
Check out all the US PGA Tour video highlights from Woods’ opening round.
Despite the solid opening round, rumours are ripe that Woods has privately split with swing consultant Chris Como – who has not travelled to Virginia this week with Woods. Under the biomechanics students’ guidance, Woods has not performed well and has missed three cuts, including The Open championship at St Andrews.
Several sources have suggested Woods has split with Como, who teamed with the former world No. 1 last November, but Woods’ manager Mark Steinberg told GolfChannel.com via email it was the “first I have heard of it.”
Notah Begay, who introduced Woods to Como, also said that he had not heard of any split between the two and that he had dinner with Como earlier this week in Texas.
