LIV Golf has reaffirmed its commitment to Australia in a landmark announcement today, confirming that Adelaide will remain the exclusive Australian home of the LIV Golf League until 2031.

The news, unveiled before a crowd of thousands at the par-3 Watering Hole (No.12) during the final round of LIV Golf Adelaide, featured South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil, and Australian golfing legend Greg Norman.

“This event embodies everything LIV Golf stands for: the biggest stars, the best courses, and unmatched fan experiences,” said O’Neil. “Adelaide is our global showcase, and this partnership ensures we can continue to elevate the event to even greater heights. Premier Malinauskas’ leadership and commitment to the sport have been instrumental in making this happen, and we are thrilled to deepen our relationship with this incredible community.”

The extended partnership will not only cement Adelaide’s place as a world-class golf destination but will also feature a transformative redevelopment of the North Adelaide Golf Course. The redesign, led by Greg Norman, will turn the facility into one of the world’s premier public golf courses. The project will include the creation of a new 18-hole championship course, enhanced practice and driving range facilities, and amenities that will ensure year-round public access.

“This is what I’ve dreamed of for decades,” said Norman, a LIV Golf board member and vocal supporter of the League’s mission. “LIV Golf Adelaide is the realisation of what the sport can become – not just for professionals but for communities around the world. I’m honoured to design a world-class course in such a stunning location, providing a legacy for future generations of golfers in South Australia.”

The redevelopment will serve as the new home for LIV Golf Adelaide, offering space for temporary tournament infrastructure and enabling the event to accommodate its growing popularity. The announcement also aligns with the Malinauskas Government’s commitment to enhancing the Adelaide Park Lands while supporting tourism and bolstering interstate and international visitation.

The economic impact of LIV Golf Adelaide has been undeniable. In just its first two years, the event has contributed $136 million to South Australia’s economy and attracted thousands of visitors to the region. Last year’s tournament at The Grange Golf Club drew more than 94,000 fans, generated over 79,000 visitor nights, and saw attendees stay an average of nearly four nights, with more than 40 percent travelling from outside South Australia.

Premier Malinauskas hailed the agreement as a game-changer for the state: “LIV Golf has brought significant global attention to South Australia, and I’m thrilled to announce we’ve secured the rights to host LIV Golf Adelaide until 2031. Beyond the tournament itself, this is about showcasing South Australia to the world and telling our story through images of our stunning regions broadcast across more than 100 countries.

“The redevelopment of North Adelaide Golf Course will deliver a world-class facility that enhances the Park Lands while ensuring public accessibility. This isn’t just about golf; it’s about creating a lasting legacy for Adelaide, boosting tourism, and showing that South Australia is an incredible place to live, work, and do business.”

LIV Golf Adelaide’s unique blend of top-tier competition, festival-like atmosphere, and family-friendly entertainment has set a new standard in golf. Named the World’s Best Golf Event at the World Golf Awards for two consecutive years, the tournament has become a signature event on the LIV Golf calendar. Fans have embraced the mix of first-class hospitality, live music, and on-course excitement, epitomised by the raucous atmosphere of the Watering Hole.

LIV Golf’s 13 four-player teams feature 14 major champions with a combined 28 major titles, including Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, and Phil Mickelson. Their presence has elevated LIV Golf Adelaide to one of the sport’s premier stages.

With LIV Golf’s global broadcast reach of nearly 800 million viewers across 100+ territories, Adelaide’s status as a premier destination for world-class golf and tourism is secure. The future promises even greater success, as the event continues to attract fans from across Australia and beyond, further bolstering the state’s economy and reputation.
