The last time we checked in on viral sensation Ho-sung Choi, he had holed the most electric winning putt of 2019 in the Japan Golf Tour’s HEIWA PGM Championship. Just as Choi fatigue had begun to set in with the incredibly tough crowd that is Golf Twitter, the 46-year-old claimed his third win on that tour and went from 256th to 162nd in the OWGR in the process.

Choi was able to get six more starts in before the coronavirus pandemic, his best finish a T-17 at the Golf Nippon Series JT Cup in December. Since then he hasn’t played, for obvious reasons.

This week, Choi has made his triumphant return in the first official post-lockdown tournament in Korea, the Woosung Construction Aramic CC Busan Gyeongnam Open. And you thought A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier was a mouthful.

Through one round, Choi is one off the lead, as OWGR guru Nosferatu pointed out on Thursday. Choi went nuclear, shooting a nine-under 63 that included eight birdies and an eagle. That’s great and all, but what’s really amazing is the mask Choi had on during his post-round interview:

ENHANCE:

That’s right, Choi’s mask has his very own fisherman logo on it. Honestly, did you expect anything different?

No one embraces their own quirkiness quite like Ho-sung, and that is indeed a compliment. Keep swinging your swing, kids. Some day, it might turn into a sick logo you can sell merch with.
