Fifteen-plus handicaps, look away. What you’re about to see from Sahith Theegala might make you hate the guy forever. And you don’t want to hate Sahith Theegala. Sahith Theegala is a good, chill dude. Well, not in this instance.

Then again, you might sympathize with Theegala, too. We’ve all been here before. Can’t find the center of the club face with an iron and you are simply at your wit’s end. You tee it up on a par 3, immediately block it right of the green and into a bunker. Rage ensues. Watch at the bottom of this article.

Look / sound familiar?

Absolutely vicious. The difference between us peons on Theegala, though, is that the guy is one under, firmly in the mix on another windy day at the Valspar Championship. He even went on to get up and down for par on this hole. What the hell could he possibly be THIS mad about?

Some context – Theegala had just made his third bogey in his last six holes, and there is clearly something off with his iron play on Friday at Innisbrook. The 27-year-old is losing 1.361 strokes on approach in Round 2, this just a day after having a perfectly fine round in that same department (+0.739 SG/approach in Round 1). There’s also the fact that it certainly has not been a stellar start to 2025 for the 2024 Presidents Cupper. While he’s made all but one cut on the year, his best finish is a T-17 at the Genesis Invitational. Not where he’d imagine he’d be after finishing solo third at last year’s Tour Championship.

It could also just be frustration with the windy conditions and the difficulty of the Copperhead Course, which has been breaking brains this week. Just ask Patton Kizzire, who punted his putter like he was prime Shane Lechler before withdrawing on Thursday:

Fortunately for the afternoon wave on Friday, the wind is supposed to die down. Unfortunately for the fans, that means we’ll get less putter punt and iron throw content. A shame, really.
