Perhaps the most-anticipated moment of Ryder Cup week, other then the damn thing starting, was the opening tee shot from Bryson DeChambeau.
The hope was that he’d go out first, kicking off the festivities with an electric swing at the most electric scene in golf. But DeChambeau sat at the morning session, meaning fans had to wait a little longer for the big golfer’s entrance.
Their patience was rewarded.
Well, actually, not everyone’s patience was rewarded. One poor fan’s patience was actually punished, as DeChambeau’s mammoth opening tee shot struck her directly in the ankle. That will most definitely leave a mark. Here’s the best video we could find:
Honestly, major props to this lady for taking this thing off the shin like a CHAMP. Lesser humans might flail around like LeBron James trying to get a phantom foul call, but not her. Get that ankle on ice, ASAP, though.
As for the rest of the hole, DeChambeau obviously got up and down for birdie. DeChambeau, playing alongside Scottie Scheffler in the afternoon, made that putt, halving the hole with Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton. Never a dull moment.
