British journalist and TV personality Piers Morgan has made a living of voicing his opinion on a wide array of often sticky topics. But a sports-related tweet from Thursday has him taking cover on social media.
Paris St Germain’s stunning collapse against FC Barcelona in a Champions League Round of 16 matchup was the day’s biggest story.
But instead of making an obvious comparison to the Atlanta Falcons recently blowing the Super Bowl or tying it to any other team sport, Morgan took a shot at PSG by taking a swipe at Greg Norman:
Greg Norman must be happy.
No longer the biggest choker in sports history. #PSG— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) March 8, 2017
Here’s a sampling of the, um, feedback he’s received:
Norman won 2 majors and 91 tournaments. Stick to hypocritical and contradictory politics. It's called golf. You lose sometimes.

I'd imagine he would rather be a choker than a massive wanker 👍🏻

What an ill judged snide comment that is. Says far more about you than it does Greg Norman. Very poor!

Then people started to make fun of Morgan’s golf swing:
Piers Morgan weighing in on Greg Norman because, as this video clearly demonstrates, he knows all there is to know about golf… #foreright https://t.co/ceWLSQW5fE

Sorry, Piers, but you’re in bad need of a golf lesson. . .
Golf World’s John Huggan added this dagger:
Re @piersmorgan comments on greg norman…is quite clear we can add golf to the many things he knows nothing about 🙄

The moral of the story? Don’t mess with Golf Twitter.
