With no further updates on negotiations between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the tour released its 2025 schedule of FedEx Cup regular-season and playoff events overnight (Australian time) with only a few minor changes to its line-up of 39 tournaments.
Featured for a second year is a regular season highlighted by the four majors and eight signature events that offer increased purses and FedEx Cup points. But in 2025, the signature events also guarantee fields with a minimum of 72 players. The tour did not release prizemoney for any of its events.
The season kicks off on January 2 with the first of the eight signature events, The Sentry in Kapalua, Hawaii. The other eight signature events, which offer 700 points to the winner, are, in order: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (January 30–February 2); Genesis Invitational (February 13-16); Arnold Palmer Invitational (March 6-9); RBC Heritage (April 17-20); Truist Championship (formerly sponsored by Wells Fargo, May 8-11); the Memorial Tournament (May 29–June 1); Travelers Championship (June 19-22).
The Truist Championship, usually played at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, moves to the Philadelphia Cricket Club because Quail Hollow hosts the PGA Championship two weeks later. The Memorial Tournament returns to its traditional date after Memorial Day after a one-year positioning a week later and directly before the US Open. It switches dates with the RBC Canadian Open.
The remaining events on the schedule consist of 18 full-field events and five other opposite-field tournaments. These “swing” tournaments offer a chance for qualification to signature events for players who did not finish among the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings after this week’s FedEx St Jude Championship. Players ranked among the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking and tournament winners in 2025 are also exempt into signature events.
The season once again ends with a playoff series of three tournaments, starting on August 7 with the FedEx St Jude Championship, followed by the BMW Championship and Tour Championship. The BMW Championship will be played at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland.
“The new schedule and competitive changes introduced in 2024 were significant steps toward creating the best version of the PGA Tour for our fans and players,” commissioner Jay Monahan said in a release. “Fields were significantly stronger across the board, while the signature events provided fans more opportunities to see the PGA Tour’s best competing head-to-head. As we enter the second year of this re-imagined schedule, one thing remains a constant – winning on the PGA Tour continues to rank among the most difficult and rewarding accomplishments in sport.”
LIV Golf, which is funded by the Saudi PIF, is yet to release the schedule for its fourth season in 2025.
