So much for that “slump,” eh?
Jordan Spieth won for the first time in his native Texas on Sunday, taking the Dean & DeLuca Invitational at Colonial Country Club. And he did it in spectacular fashion.
Tied for the lead on the 16th hole, Spieth drained this curling 25-footer:
Rising to the occasion.

And then, he all but put away the win with this clutch chip-in from behind the 17th green:

With the win in hand, Spieth added a 34-footer for birdie on 18 to push the final margin to three shots.
Just for good measure …

Since winning by eight shots at Kapalua in the first event of 2016 Spieth had posted just one top 10 on the US PGA Tour in nine starts. That was his runner-up at Augusta National, where a back-nine collapse added to the questions around the reigning player of the year. But after three great rounds at the AT&T Byron Nelson last week before fading again on Sunday, Spieth finally put four great rounds together.
Jordan Spieth is the first Texas-born player to win at Colonial since Ben Crenshaw in 1990.

Spieth’s victory means all of golf’s Big 3 have won their last start. Jason Day went wire to wire at the Players two weeks ago, and Rory McIlroy took the Irish Open last week. Is anyone else out there getting excited for the US Open?
