Lee Trevino is a unicorn. The rare type of human who talks too much, yet all you want to do is hear him talk more when he stops. It doesn’t even have to be about golf. He could talk about what he ate for breakfast this morning, and most of us would drop everything we were doing in that moment to listen. He’s the living embodiment of the phrase “let him cook” once he gets going.
Brooks Koepka’s priceless reaction to making an extra $4 million
When he does talk about golf, though, not only do you drop what you are doing, you find yourself wanting to take notes. Fortunately, we live in an age where people with internet brains know to pull out their phone and start recording the legend when he’s on a roll, which is exactly what happened during a recent PGA HOPE program for veterans in Washington, D.C.
In the clip you’ll see below, Trevino, surrounded by a group of veterans hanging on his every word, appears to be giving a lesson on how to grip the golf club. It seems like the beginning of his lesson is a bit cut off, so we can’t figure out exactly what type of shot he’s describing. I guess you had to be there, but this video will still have to do:
"If it wasn't for you guys, I wouldn't be playing golf."

Rickie Fowler, Max Homa to star in Netflix’s first live golf match
Is this about short game shots? Driver? Irons? No clue, but we can’t stop watching. What we do know for sure – that dap up at the 35-second mark might be the cleanest dap-up in dap-up history. From an 83-year-old man, no less. We said unicorn. We meant it.
