Having recently celebrated its 114-year anniversary, one of our most iconic country courses deserves the spotlight. Just under two hours from Queenstown on “the road less travelled”, Roxburgh Golf Club is situated on a section of State Highway 8 between Invercargill and Cromwell. Anyone making the journey to Roxburgh will be rewarded for their effort.
Croppings of rock dot this course, making you feel as if you’re playing on another planet – certainly not rural New Zealand. The 18 holes present quality golf in the most unpretentious setting. Holes wind and bend up and down around this property, providing a mix of heroic tee shots and frustrating bounces. At 4,372 metres, Roxburgh is not long. Nor is it expensive – $20 per round with a clubhouse that is occasionally staffed.
