John Daly II to make first professional start this week

John Daly II will make his first professional start this week.

The son of two-time major champion John Daly, golf fans best know Daly II from the annual PNC Championship, where he’s teamed with his father to play seven times, including winning the event in 2021. But while the PNC is a silly season competition, what Daly II will be playing in this week is no joke, teaming it up on the Korn Ferry Tour’s Compliance Solutions Championship.

“Little John” is not necessarily an amateur standout, as he’s currently outside the top 500 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. However, after ‘redshirting’ in his sophomore year, Daly II played in eight events for the Arkansas Razorbacks this past season, turning in a 71.78 scoring average over that stretch.

Those hoping to see Big John may be disappointed, however, as Daly will be playing on the senior circuit this week.

The Compliance Solutions Championship will be played at Jimmie Austin Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma. The event begins on Thursday.
