Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson have combined forces to produce the latest YouTube golf match to go viral. It also led to one of the craziest golf stories we’ve ever heard.

Mickelson and YouTube star Grant Horvat teamed up against Johnson and his brother/caddie Austin for an entertaining round that we won’t spoil. But this story from Dustin from a couple of decades ago during his time at Coastal Carolina University was too good not to pass along. Take it away, DJ!

“We were playing at Spring Valley in Columbia, we were on our way to conference championships [and] we stopped to play a round,” Johnson recalls. “And the second hole was a par 5, I holed it with a 6-iron. Third hole, par 3, it was like 225 [yards], 5-iron, it’s going right at it. Of course, I just made double-eagle so there’s no way it’s going in… IN. Double-eagle, hole-in-one back-to-back.”

Um, that’s ridiculous. Even for a two-time major champion who used to be No.1 in the world. And even a six-time major winner agreed.

“No way,” Mickelson says. “I’ve never heard of that.” And that’s coming from a golf legend with 47 (yes, 47!) holes-in-one. And even he didn’t know what to say about that. And when has Phil Mickelson ever been left speechless? Well, basically speechless.

Anyway, you can watch the entire video below, but Johnson’s unbelievable story starts at about the 47-minute mark:

Just another reminder that these guys are good. Really good.
