Crocodiles. Turtles. Ducks. Dogs. Birds. Deer. Snakes. We’ve seen so many different animals interrupt play on the golf course over the years that it rarely is a surprise when it happens.
Until Sunday at the Magical Kenya Open on the Ladies European Tour, when two giraffes took their time roaming the 18th fairway at the Vipingo Ridge golf course.
On the video below you can hear the commentator mention that the area is part of a wildlife sanctuary designed to save animals that were rescued for various different reasons. In this video, the giraffes are named Char and Valentine.

The website for Vipingo Ridge says it is “focused on developing Kenyan coastal and marine habitats. For over 15 years we have been developing sisal estate into a sanctuary for both people and the indigenous Kenyan wildlife”.
As for the tournament, Shannon Tan and Alessandra Fanali were tied heading into the final round. Tan, a 19-year-old from Singapore, birdied three of her first five holes in the final round to provide separation and ultimately win in her first LET event as a professional. She shot 73-70-67-70 for a 12-under total to capture, fittingly, a trophy of a giraffe.
