Can it really be that the LIV Golf League is hitting the halfway point of its 2023 season this week with its visit outside America’s capital?
Indeed, this week’s event at Trump National Washington, DC, marks the seventh of 14 events on the 2023 LIV schedule, and a triumphant one at that with Brooks Koepka receiving a hero’s welcome after winning the PGA Championship last week at Oak Hill.

It wasn’t the money that Koepka earned last week ($US3.15 million for his victory) but the stature of claiming a fifth major title – and doing so in such impressive fashion with his methodical final-round 67. In turn he seemed to sway the debate on whether a LIV golfer deserved to play on the US Ryder Cup team.
After an exhausting week of celebration, Koepka is in line for another big payday. The typical prizemoney payout is up for grabs in the no-cut, 54-hole event: a $US20 million individual purse, with $4 million going to the winner. There’s also $US5 million on the line in the team competition.
