Entering this week’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Sei Young Kim had the most wins of any LPGA player who had not also won a Major – 10 victories since coming to the United States to play full-time in 2015. On Sunday at Aronimink Golf Club outside Philadelphia, she finally grabbed the missing Major. With a dominant final-round 63, the 27-year-old from South Korea cruised to a five-stroke victory over 10-time Major champion Inbee Park.
Such an accomplishment brings with it the intangible benefits of knowing you beat the best when the most was on the line. But there are also some financial rewards that come with the feat. The overall prizemoney payout from the PGA of America was $US4.3 million with Kim taking home $645,000 for the victory.
