When it comes to sitting at a desk talking about sports, very few have done it better or longer than Dan Patrick.
Patrick spent 18 years at ESPN before moving to NBC, where he served as the host of “Football Night in America” before branching off with his own eponymous show. But those roles pale in comparison to his biggest challenge yet:
‘Happy Gilmore 2.’
This week, Adam Sandler – the star of the most anticipated golf comedy of all-time (a low bar, we know) – appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show.” During his guest spot, Sandler and Patrick shared some behind-the-photos from the set of the film, which showed Patrick in the cameo role he was born to play.
Check it out.

Though Patrick’s soup catcher looks straight out of the Ron Burgundy playbook, Patrick’s role will likely have more in common with Champ Kind and the legendary “Dodgeball” duo of Cotton McKnight and Pepper Brooks, carrying on a proud Hollywood tradition of fictional sportscasters.
In addition to Patrick, other confirmed cameos in the film include Bad Bunny, Travis Kelce, Ben Stiller, John Daly, Jordan Spieth, Lee Trevino and even The Golden Bear himself.
We don’t know if Patrick and co. will be celebrating a second gold jacket for Mr Gilmore when the credits finally roll, but with ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ slated for a 2025 release, we won’t have to wait long to find out.
