As prizes go, a hole-in-one is more than enough on its own, but some recognition and free goodies never hurt. That’s exactly what happened when one Redditor aced the par-3 No. 8 at Mariners Point Golf Center in Foster City, CA.

While playing some night golf earlier this month, r/golf poster realethanbradberry made a hole-in-one with a little help from his Callaway Paradym XA-wedge and a Kirkland Signature ball. The video features the usual shock and awe of a hole-in-one, plus a few semi-awkward high-fives.

When you’re hot, you’re hot, so the new ace-haver decided to reach out to Costco CEO Ron Vachris to spread the good news. “Hello!” realethanbradberry wrote. “Does Costco do anything for getting a hole-in-one with their golf balls? Just an email back from the man who’s in charge of the $1.50 Costco hot dog is a win in itself, but things got even better from there. Senior Vice President Yoon Kim sent over a hand-written congratulations note and even shipped some extra golf balls.

This man went from zero aces to one ace, added a few extra sleeves of balls to his bag and now has direct correspondence with a few of the individuals who run The Happiest Place on Earth (for Adults).

Update on what Costco sent me for making a Hole In One with a Kirkland Signature Golf Ball byu/realethanbradberry ingolf

“A lot of golf companies offer something complimentary if you make a hole-in-one with their equipment, so I decided to email the CEO lol!” the Redditor explained. “Was not expecting a reply and was surprised to get a response and get forwarded over to the SVP who got my details and sent some KS balls and a note! Gotta love Costco!”

He’s planning to frame this Costco history, along with a plaque he received from Callaway—yes, he emailed them too. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and so on.

This really just goes to show you that you might as well reach out if you ever get that fortuitous ace. It’s worth a shot!
