It’s been said that in the SEC, “it just means more.” Fans of Big 10, Big 12 and ACC often take offense to the phrase. That’s because it’s sort of true.

Look no further than the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational tournament, which is actually hosted by an ACC team – Georgia Tech.

But this move just reeks of SEC involvement, in our opinion. This would make sense, as there are three SEC teams in the field, among them Alabama and Tennessee. For those not paying attention, the Crimson Tide and the Volunteers had a massive tilt in a different sport, college football, this weekend. Also known as “The Third Saturday in October,” one of the most underrated rivalries in the sport.

Well, neither the Tide men’s golf team nor the Volunteers men’s golf team were going to miss that one, but they still had a golf tournament to play. Lucky for them, on the ninth and 18th greens at the Golf Club of Georgia, two giant screens were rolled out with the game on. It certainly does just mean more:

How important was this Bama-Tennessee game? A number of other schools in this golf tournament had huge football games for their schools take place on Saturday, too. The host team, Georgia Tech, was playing Notre Dame (ever heard of ’em?). Clemson and Virginia, both in the field, were also playing against each other in football. UCLA, USC and Stanford all had games, too. But this is Alabama-Tennessee. That’s a main screen game if we’ve ever seen one.

As for the golf tournament itself, UCLA is leading the way on the team leader board with one round to play. Caden Baker, a senior at Charlotte, leads the individual portion of the event. Now, all we need to know is which NFL game is getting the main screen treatment on Sunday. Or, imagine an OCTOBOX on Red Zone with Scott Hanson while your putting out for par? That would be special stuff.
