The biggest locks at the major championships in 2024? Hideki Matsuyama making the cut and Jason Day’s Malbon outfits getting the internet all sorts of riled up.

First there was the Masters sweater vest, which Day admitted the green jackets at Augusta National asked him to take off because it was a little “busy.” Then came the practice round short shorts at Valhalla on PGA Championship week. And finally, his shoes at the US Open at Pinehurst, which were actually well-received on Golf Twitter.

Fast forward to this week’s Open Championship at Royal Troon, where you knew Malbon and Day would come armed and ready with all kinds of weather in the forecast in Scotland. Thursday and Friday, however, were a bit disappointing, as Day rocked an all-black fit for each of the first two rounds:

Booooooring.

Luckily for the internet, there was nothing boring about Day’s Day 3 outfit. When you’re in contention at the British Open but you might hit the slopes afterward:

One thing is certain – Malbon is NOT letting this man get wet on Saturday.

As for whether it’s helping his play, not so much. Day has started two over through three and dropped into a tie for 19th. The rain does not appear to be subsiding any time soon, though. The jacket stays on.Â
