Siblings Minjee and Min Woo Lee earned top-10 results on different tours in Asia last week to lead the Australian golfers who teed up in tournaments around the world.
Two-time major winner Minjee was playing at the Buick LPGA in China, where she finished solo eighth after a final-round 69. Minjee said it was pleasing to have plenty of support during the LPGA Tour event held in Shanghai.
“I like playing in Asia,” Minjee said. “A lot of my family come out to watch, and I have a nice fan support group here as well. It makes me feel more at home. Obviously, I enjoy playing everywhere, but Asia, it’s close to my heritage, and just nice to be here.”
Min Woo was not far away, contesting the Macao Open at Macau Golf and Country Club. Min Woo was the defending champion having won 2023 title only months before triumphing at the Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland. This year, Thai golfer Rattanon Wannasrichan won while Min Woo carded a 66 on the last day to finish T-9, his third top-10 result worldwide this year after two runner-up results on the PGA Tour.
Meanwhile, in Paris, Victorian David Micheluzzi helped his chances of securing a DP World Tour Playoffs berth with a T-27 at the Open de France at the Olympic golf course, Le Golf National.
In Japan, Phoenix Campbell, only days after playing a practice round with major winner Adam Scott, finished the Japan Open as the low amateur. After the Asia-Pacific Amateur two weeks ago, the Japan Open was Campbell’s last event as an amateur before turning professional.
