Feeling tired? Feeling sore? Feeling dragged down by these winter days? Well, we have some tough news for you: there’s a chance you’re just [whispers] getting old. But don’t worry, we found a little something to make you feel better. We found something that proves age really is just a number. We found this video of 41-year-old Adam Scott sending a 336-metre (368-yard) nuke through the 18th fairway at Sedgefield Country Club’s overnight. Look out below:
Now we should probably clarify a few things. First of all, 41 really isn’t that old. Second of all, 336 metres isn’t that far, at least by modern golf’s exponentially increasing distance standards. But when you put those two numbers together, the arithmetic becomes a lot more impressive.
It’s not just the age-to-bomb ratio, however. It’s the manner of the bomb itself. This isn’t some big, high fade to get the gallery oohing and awing (Scott gets enough of that as it is). Instead there’s a violence to Scott’s drive – a ruthless efficiency to the trajectory that kicks off the downslope and rolls all the way through the fairway, coming to a rest in the first cut.
Could this be a sign that Scott is rediscovering his old, Major-winning form? That remains to be seen, but for now we’ll just enjoy this for what it is: a ridiculously good tee shot.
