This may come as a surprise seeing as Min Woo Lee is a proud Australian, but before yesterday he had never attended a game of cricket. Sure, the Aussies are the best team on the planet in the men’s Test team rankings, and yes, we seem to routinely whip England in the Ashes more often than not, but apparently Lee missed boarding the cricket train.
Until Thursday that is, when he finally caved, attending the opening day of the Third Test of the Ashes at Headingly in Yorkshire. There he enjoyed a pint with fellow DP World Tour winner and long-time drinking mate, Kiwi Daniel Hillier. Cheers, lads.

Looks like a pretty good way to spend an English summer afternoon to us. That said, Lee initially struggled to track the bowlers. Lee is no stranger to high ball speeds himself, so that should tell you something about the velocity on display.

Yet we soon learned it wasn’t the bowlers who were deceiving Lee, it was those pesky English pints.

Apparently the beers hit different in the northern hemisphere. The good news is that Lee has all weekend to nurse the hangover before next week’s Scottish Open, a tournament he won in 2021. Who knows, by then Australia may have even wrapped up the Ashes.
