After grabbing a share of the first-round lead with a 66 at the BMW PGA Championship, Tyrrell Hatton went low again on Friday. His second-round 67 at Wentworth has him one off the current lead of 12-under, held by fellow countryman Matthew Fitzpatrick and reigning Open champion Shane Lowry. He couldn’t have asked for a better start at a course he grew up not far from.
Yet even when things are going well, Hatton remains a rollercoaster of emotion. No one embodies the cliche “wears his heart on his sleeve” more than the 28-year-old Englishman. The latest evidence of that came on Friday when, after an absolutely cruel lip out on a long birdie putt, Hatton raised his arms in the air, looked towards the heavens and stated that what he had just witnessed was “the most disgusting thing I’ve seen for a while.” Never change, Tyrrell:

Is this truly the most disgusting thing Hatton has seen for a while? Of course not. But he’s not being literal, not to mention hyperbole plays BIG time in 2020. We see nothing wrong with such a strong declaration.
This is the latest in Hatton’s greatest hits collection, which includes one of the most vicious club throws of all time and this legendary exchange between he and his caddie at Bay Hill in 2019:

"Have you seen a worse golf shot? Answer the question."
